Yoga therapy is the holistic approach to physical and mental well-being that treats chronic or acute ailments by bringing the whole body into symmetry and balance through exercises, breathwork, meditation and nutrition. Yoga and traditional physical therapy exercises are adapted to meet the needs and capabilities of the student in personalized sequence that are developed in private sessions with a teacher and props, and can be practiced at home.

Yoga Therapy is not just for experienced yoga practitioners.
The goal of yoga therapy is to assist the student in what we hope will be a lifelong commitment to his or her own health, whether the student has been practicing for years, or has never been on the mat. The objective of yoga therapy sessions is to establish a level of awareness of the exercises and one's own body so that he or she may then take control over her own practice and join regular group classes as well as continue on their own at home.
Yoga therapy at NataRaj Yoga is led by Isabelle Skaburskis, a qualified yoga therapist certified by Nicky Knoff Yoga through the Cairns Yoga Academy in Australia. Yoga therapy is based on a clinical understanding of human anatomy and body mechanics, and the instructor’s ability to adapt therapeutic exercises and poses to match the needs of the student using props and assistance.
Each session last between one hour and 75 minutes.
Please bring comfortable, flexible clothing and a digital camera if possible.
Please arrive on an empty stomach, and do not drink water for 20 minutes prior to and after the session. Drink beforehand and do not forget to drink as much as possible afterwards.

About Pregnancy Yoga at NataRaj
Prenatal yoga group classes are generally geared to those new to the practice or with basic experience. Those who already have an established practice may choose to either join a prenatal group class, or arrange a set of private classes to compliment their participation in normal level 1 or Yoga Basics group classes. Private classes entail sequences and poses beneficial for a pregnant body, information on which poses to avoid, and how to substitute with a more useful one, if the participant is also joining regular group classes.
Also at NataRaj, with much thanks to the generosity of midwife Aimee Centivany, there is a small lending library of pregnancy-related reading material for new moms and dads. Books are available on loan to those attending private or group classes, although all are welcome to come in and browse.
Participants should be past their first trimester of pregnancy in order to join any yoga classes, but need not have prior yoga experience.
Post-natal classes are also offered on a privately arranged basis. Women are advised to wait at least one month after delivery before resuming a gentle practice.
