Getting Involved Sponsorship Packages Donations

How You Can Get Involved

We are looking for donations and sponsorships for 2011. Being a Cambodia-based organization, we are not permitted to use Paypal or other secure web-based payment options. We would like to direct people's attention to two of our partner organizations who can accept online donations:

www.azaharfoundation.org

www.transitionsglobal.org
http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/yoga-therapy/

Support for these two organizations is support for our program.

If you would like to contribute directly, we do accept bank transfers and we encourage you to contact us to make arrangements. A receipt will be provided.

Sponsorships

There are three ways to sponsor Krama Yoga:

  • Professional development for the core team
  • Pre-teacher training for a yoga-teacher-to-be
  • NGO classes

Professional Development package for 2011

Yoga Alliance certification with visiting Master Teacher Hart Lazer—100 hours for $500 per person; this would bring each trainee up to 200 hours, and qualify them for Yoga Alliance certification.
Ragamuffin Healing Arts facilitation certification for teachers leading trauma therapy yoga—a year-long professional program for Cambodians and expatriates working in any therapy-related field, that utilizes concepts and techniques that are aligned with yoga. $100 per month.
Weekly in-studio workshops led by senior teacher Oskar Nery—feedback sessions and workshops held weekly to address issues that come up while the junior teachers apply their teacher training knowledge to real classes. $50 per month

The goal of the 2011 professional development package is for every member of the Krama Yoga team to have marketable accreditation that will enable them to effectively maintain Krama Yoga as a long term project without an ongoing need for foreigner support on the ground.

Each package will vary slightly between each junior teacher, depending on his or her long term goals. Some the of the teacher will specialize in yoga therapy, some in Kids Yoga and Kids Yoga teacher training, some in administration and management.

Given the background education and experiences of the core team members, and indeed any future Krama Yoga employees, packages take into the account the varying degrees of personal development and moral support that each team member may require. Some members of the team can focus more of their energy on developing the program, some still need to focus their energy on healing themselves. All sponsorship packages are designed with these considerations in mind.

Some of the junior teachers have basic English skills and are able to maintain correpondence with their sponsor; some do not have English skills and communication would take place between the sponsor and the program director.

Pre-Teacher Training

Six hours a week of deeper study that will give experienced yoga students a foundation from which they can leap into a Krama Yoga Teacher Training program.

Pre Teacher Training will be led in four three-month modules:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Yoga Philosophy
  • Self-practice and Sequencingg
  • Kids Yoga Skills and Teaching Methodology
Pre-teacher training students will be selected on the basis of their commitment to yoga and leadership capacity as demonstrated in our ongoing NGO classes. There will be ten students invited to participate in this program, and each student can be sponsored for $80 per month, which includes classroom time and transportation subsidies.

NGO Classes

Right now we work with five organizations. We have been approached by several others that work with children and young adults, who have heard about the effectiveness of our program and are interested in hosting classes.

We are looking for sponsorship for these classes so that we can start. A minimal commitment would be $50 a month for one weekly class of up to ten students, taught by one teachers. Trauma Therapy classes for kids and also for care providers require two teachers and senior teacher supervision, and are a $200 monthly, or $250 for two weekly classes. Other options are available for amounts in between.

We do ask that that sponsors for NGO classes commit to at least six months of classes, or one year. Anything less is disrupting to the students.

Sponsors who are interested in making yoga classes happen in Cambodia, and creating professional opportunities for Cambodian yoga teachers, can contact us to find an NGO and design a package that is suitable to the sponsors interests.

Donations

There are many one-off expenses and specific items that Krama Yoga is looking to cover as it gets on its feet. Here are some examples:

  • TV and DVD player for yoga and educational use
  • Studio moped for Administrative purposes and teacher transportation to NGOs and meetings
  • Yoga mats, straps, blocks; Kids Yoga teaching materials
  • Fundraising trip for two reps to Hong Kong to promote Krama Yoga at Asia Yoga Conference in 2011
