Please note that as of November, 2008,the Intro classes will be priced according to our regular rates for returning students.
For new students, a one-month pass to Intro-classes only will be available for purchase for $32. New students are encourage to attend two to three classes per week to get the full benefit of the course.
Isabelle Skaburskis, the founder and principle teacher at NataRaj Yoga, has a background in Asthtanga and Knoff Yoga with an ongoing interest in Iyengar Yoga, she and specializes in Yoga Therapy. Each class finds a balance between flow and precision of alignment; the goal of the practice being to cultivate body awareness and agency over the subtle movements of the body and mind.
Yan Vannac is a student of Isabelle and also of Nicky Knoff, and teaches in a similar style, bringing flow and poise to each sequence.
Intro to Yoga-This class is to introduce beginners to the practice of yoga as it is taught at NataRaj. The first week of each month begins with classes on the Sun Salutations ;
The second week of each month introduces standing and seated poses;
The third week of each month introduces backbends and twists;
The fourth week of each month looks at inversions.
New students can begin at any week and may take this course along with regular Level 1 classes. Students are encouraged to complete the four week series, and attend class at least twice a week to launch their yoga practice.
Level 1- Level 1 assumes basic knowledge of the first Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskara A) and the essential poses as taught in the Intro course. At this level, studetns start to look at the technique and more subtle alignment, as well as practicing a complete sequence with each class.
Open-This level is open to all but the most beginner students. The class will be taught according to the level of the participants and accomodations will be made for different levels in the same class. Great for newer students who want a challenge, and more advnaced students who want to move more slowly through serious poses. Ashtanga Surya Namaskara B, headstands and more complex backbends are taught at this level.
Level 2-This advanced level class flows through more challenging asanas and looks at more sublte technique and internal alignement.
Pilates-A style of exercise complimentary to a yoga practice that focuses on bringing awareness and strength to core muscles and internal alignment of the body by isolating and targeting key muscles of the abdomen, back and legs. Open to all levels.
For students who wish to:
receive deeper instruction in their practice;
develop a self practice;
address specific questions or challenges;
receive yoga instruction in a private environment;
or are not available to attend regularly scheduled classes
are encouraged to contact Isabelle regarding private sessions —either one-on-one or in a small group, at the studio or at your own home or place of work.
Isabelle Skaburskis, originally from Canada, founder of NataRaj Yoga and principle teacher, has been practicing yoga for 6 years in Canada, Thailand and Australia. Her background is in Ashtanga yoga and Knoff ýoga and is certified at the Intermediate level by Nicky Knoff in Cairns, Australia. Isabelle is certified in Thai yoga massage and yoga therapy, so her teaching style focuses on the healing and preventive capacities of an intelligent practice. Isabelle teaches in English, French and, when pressed, Khmer.
